The 2014 Tevis Cup 100-Miles-One-Day Trail Ride saw two finishers in Renegade® Hoof Boots. The overall ride completion rate this year was roughly 58%, thanks in part to some favorable weather conditions (anyone who was at the 2013 Tevis can attest to how much nicer this year’s weather was). 186 riders started the 2014 Tevis, and 107 completed.
Renegade® Hoof Boot completions this year were Hannah Pruss, who came in 9th place on her home-bred gelding Kourageus Hope wearing Renegade® Pro-Comp Glue-Ons, and Stephanie Palmer-DuRoss, riding Hadji Halef Omar in classic Renegade® strap-ons, in 107th place.
Hannah Pruss and Kourageus Hope
“Stuart” is a 9-year-old Arabian gelding who was bred, raised, trained, and competed by owner Hannah Pruss. This was Hannah and Stuart’s first Tevis together, and Stuart’s first 100 – but Hannah has three prior Tevis buckles, one riding Stuart’s dam Shazam’s Zhope, and two riding Stuart’s full older brother Krusador. Stuart has just under 1000 AERC miles, has a 17/18 ride completion record, most of which have been finishes in the Top Ten, and has won the “Best Condition” award at 7 rides. Hannah has over 4000 AERC miles.
Hannah and Stuart are the first pair to complete in the Top Ten at Tevis wearing Renegade® Hoof Boots. They finished in 9th place, with a ride time of 15:33.
Stephanie Palmer-DuRoss and Hadji Halef Omar
“Hadji” is a 22-year-old Arabian gelding with an impressive AERC track record of over 7000 miles, and 142 completions out of 145 ride starts. Owner Stephanie Palmer-DuRoss has ridden Hadji for all but one of those 145 rides. Hadji has 6 Best Condition awards, and numerous Top Ten finishes. Stephanie has over 11000 AERC miles. Stephanie and Hadji competed in the 2010 Tevis, but were pulled at 85 miles for lameness.
This year, Stephanie and Hadji finished in 107th place at 4:58 in the morning, a ride time of 21:49.
“Hadji” wears classic Renegade® strap-on shells with Renegade Viper® captivators.
Congratulations to all of the horses and riders who finished this year’s Tevis ride…and looking forward to next year!
